Melissa Ann Two Hearts was born on January 14, 2015 in Sioux Falls.  She spent the first part of her life in Sioux Falls until she moved with her family to Pierre when she was three months old.  Melissa was always happy.  She rarely cried, and if she did, it was only for a bottle, a diaper change, or someone to play with.  She loved standing up, observing everything around her, and playing with her sister.  Melissa would never smile for a picture, but she always smiled for everyone else—especially her sister, Kirlyam.  Even if Kirlyam wasn’t nice to Melissa, she still enjoyed giving her kisses, laying with her, and playing with her.  Melissa never took interest in cartoons but instead enjoyed watching tidbits of the Big Bang Theory.  She learned to laugh at just four months and was always playing with her feet.  Words cannot explain how precious Melissa was; she was loved by many, and her smile will forever stay in our hearts.

Melissa’s life will be cherished by her mom, Tamara Two Hearts of Pierre; her dad, Taylor Black Cloud of McLaughlin; her sister, Kirlyam of Pierre; her grandparents: Todd (Verna) Two Hearts of Eagle Butte, Karen Paulson of Sioux Falls, Donna and Edward Black Cloud of McLaughlin, Angela Chasing Hawk and Ian Cook of Eagle Butte, Vincent Chasing Hawk of Eagle Butte, Chad Two Hearts of Eagle Butte, Robin Keeble of Sisseton, and Michelle Two Hearts of Fargo; her aunties:  Camara Two Hearts of Rapid City and Brenda Creek of Sioux Falls; her great-grandparents: Emery Two Hearts Sr. of Aberdeen, Violet Black Cloud of McLaughlin, Hattie Ducheneaux of Eagle Butte, Linda Eagle Horse of Alabama, and Bella Meeter and Fred Little Dog of Marksville; her cousin, Kayliegh Two Hearts of Rapid City; and numerous other friends and relatives.

Melissa was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Verna Meeter; her great-grandfather, Curtis Chasing Hawk; and her cousin, Chase Chasing Hawk.

Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte has been entrusted with Melissa’s arrangements.

  1. I am so sorry to hear the news about your recent loss of your dear baby girl. She was beautiful. I can not imagine your feelings of sorrow. With my sincere condolences, I write you today. Your family are in my
thoughts and prayers. I am sending you a note of comfort and a sincere hope that
you can find peace at this hurtful time. Remember, Jesus even shed tears for his
friend “Lazarus" in the Bible-died. Jesus, also brought back a little girl from death in the bible. Death is a very hurtful enemy of the living.
    (Revelation 21:1-4)
I found comfort with my mothers lost at age thirteen, by reading scriptures. I received a letter similar to this one, with a similar message. I found reading and searching for God and his promises helped. I visited a website (JW.ORG) and It is full of scriptures of Hope and information about the Bible, and I loved the resurrection hope the bible talks about. I am sure you will as well. Its encouraging and peaceful.
With all my prayers to your family, and deepest sympathy.
    Sincerely Yours,
    Helen West
