Michael Anderson
March 6, 1958 ~ September 5, 2019
Michael Lorin Anderson, 61 of Vermillion, South Dakota passed away Thursday, September 5, 2019 at his residence.
Visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Kober Funeral Home, Vermillion, SD. Memorial Service was held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Luze Funeral Home, Highmore with Pastor David Peterson presiding. Burial followed in the Highmore Cemetery.
Michael was born in Faulkton, South Dakota to Harold and Eunice (Jacobson) Anderson on March 6, 1958.
He married Kendrea Butterfield in March 1982. To this union brought two children, Bryce and Terra, also a stepson, Nathan. They later divorced in 2004.
Michael enjoyed working numerous jobs, cooking was a specialty, but Sundt Construction was the one that allowed him to travel to different places in which he loved to spend his time, such as Victoria, Texas and Cave Creek, Arizona. He referred to himself as “Wood Tick” and was proud of the many bridges and projects he had his hands on in Omaha, Nebraska. He helped construct the ConAgra Water Fountain and the League Jungle at the Henry Doorly Zoo. Mike was definitely an early riser. He always looked out for the underdogs of the world and had a kind soul.
In 2010, Mike moved back to South Dakota, working in Mitchell, Yankton, and finally landing in Vermillion. He was a custodian at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion for the past few years and loved his Beede Hall kids. Mike had a great sense of humor and would wiggle his ears on a daily basis to make people laugh.
Mike is survived by his children: a son, Bryce (Michala) Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska; a daughter, Terra (Mike) Robb of Springfield, Nebraska; grandchildren, Hogan and Baby Boy, Clayson and Celia; two brothers, Dusty (Cindy) Anderson of Yankton, South Dakota and Burton (Laura) Anderson of Highmore, South Dakota; a sister-in-law, Linda Anderson of Sturgis, South Dakota; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Eunice; brother, Scott; niece, Shantel; and close friend, Bob Beastrom.
Kober Funeral Home of Vermillion and Luze Funeral Home of Highmore has been entrusted with Michael’s arrangements.

Thoughts and prayer to the Anderson family!!!!!!
We are saddened to hear of the death of your brother, Burton. May God grant peace to you all.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Mike’s family. He always had that smile with a slight grin to it like he knew something you didn’t. He was a kind soul and always said hello to you. When you looked up and saw Mike walking down the school halls there was Bob Beastrom laughing side by side they would go. I’m sure they are side by side telling stories and laughing as they go together on this new journey.
Prayers for the Anderson family! May it comfort you to know Mike is with God,
Jesus & reunited with Harold, Eunice, Scott & all those that passed before!
Thinking of you at this sad time. Cherish all the great memories. Sincere Sympathy, Mike and Mary
Remember Mike well as a classmate and also we attended VBS at Sedgwick Church together when we were younger. Saddened to hear of his passing but he was always kind and funny – and he and another classmate Bob Beastrom were the best of friends through the years. Prayers to all of Mike's family during this difficult time.
To the Anderson Family:
I send my deepest sympathy. My remembrance of Michael is being one of the “three Mike’s” (Anderson, Cadman, & Gunderson) in Vacation Bible School at Sedgwick Church. All three were full of life and vigor!
May you be comforted always.
Many good memories from the past spent with Mike and the Anderson family when we were kids. We are sending prayers of comfort to all of Mike’s family members and friends. Our deepest sympathy and condolences are extended to the entire Anderson family.
