Mildred Witte, 94, of Faulkton, died Friday, January 19, 2007 at the Faulk County Memorial Hospital, Faulkton.
Mass of Christian Burial was 11:00a.m. Wednesday, January 24 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Orient with Father Joji officiating. Burial was in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Orient, directed by Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton. Visitation was held from 1:00-7:00p.m. Tuesday, January 23 with a 7:00p.m. Wake service at the Luce Funeral Home in Faulkton.
Mildred was born August 11, 1912 to Ernest and Mary (Stafford) Leafgreen on a farm by Orient. She was raised on the same farm. On February 22, 1931, she married Arthur Witte in Orient. They farmed in Orient and moved to Faulkton in 1963. She worked at the Faulkton Hardware Store and the Faulkton Hospital.
She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Faulkton, Legion Auxiliary #102 and the V.F.W. Auxiliary #3179.
She enjoyed making quilts, playing pinochle, going to auctions and rummage sales, shopping and buying for others, and cooking.
Mildred will be missed by her nine children: Ardyce (Charles) Hadrick of Faulkton, Burton (Pauline) Witte of Pierre, James (Donna) Witte of Rapid City, Darrell “Pete” (Mary) Witte of Pierre, Judith (Duane) Smith of Hermosa, Patricia (Greg) Meier of Box Elder, Charles (Bridgette) Witte of Aberdeen, Mary Ann (Paul) Worm of Hemet, CA, and Gordon (Karen) Witte of Klameth Falls, OR; 27 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1998; two brothers; 4 sisters; 2 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.
