Olive Heinzerling, 99, of 1345 Michigan S.W. and formerly of Miller passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at the Huron Nursing Home.
Funeral services was held at 2:00p.m., Monday, October 23 at the Reck Funeral Home in Miller with Rev. Brian Jones presiding. Burial will be in the St. Lawrence Cemetery. Olive Etta Williams was born May 10, 1907 to Otis and Nellie (Martin) Williams at Sullivan, Illinois. She moved with her parents to South Dakota in 1912 where they lived on various farms in the St. Lawrence area. Her mother passed away at age 38 and Olive being the second born of eight children helped her father care for the younger children.
On November 4, 1926 Olive married Glenn Wharton and together had five children. The family lived north of Miller until 1936 when they moved to Salinas, California for three years. In 1939 they returned to Miller to farm for the next 15 years. Then in 1959 the family moved to Spokane, Wash. where Olive enjoyed cooking, gardening and crocheting. Glenn passed away in 1962.
Olive married J.W. “Bill” Heinzerling on December 3, 1964 in Coeur ‘d’ Alene, Idaho. They resided on a farm near St. Lawrence until she and Bill moved to the Miller Manor in 1974. Bill passed away in January 1984. Olive entered the Huron Nursing Home in 2004.
Left to cherish her life is her daughter: Mary Scherschligt of Yakima, Wash.; three sons: William (Lorraine) Wharton of Huron, Richard (Phyllis) Wharton of Sacramento, Calif. and Donald Wharton of Yakima, Wash.; one step-son: Larry (Janis) Heinzerling of Redfield; one step-daughter: Nancy Kelley of Huron; 21 grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 32 step-great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and two step great-great grandchildren; one sister, Vivian Lawless of San Diego, Calif.; one brother, Percy Williams of Miller and numerous nieces and nephews.
Olive was preceded in death by both husbands; her parents; one son, Robert; two grandchildren; one son-in-law, Larry Scherschligt; one daughter-in-law, Patty Wharton; one step son, Merlin Heinzerling and one step daughter, Betty Strasburg; one step son-in-law: Gordon Strasburg; four brothers, Everett, Estol, Orval and Francis and one sister, Daisy Lowther.

Dear Mary and Bill and Peggy,
We are so sorry about your mother. She lived a long and good Life.
Mary we missed seeing you when you visited you mom in Miller in Sept. and Bill we really missed you at the reunion.
Peggy I know how fond you were of Merlin’s stepmother.
