Oliver Block, 7 month old son of Jesse and Shawn Block of Miller, S.D., passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Children's Hospital in St. Paul, MN with his parents at his side.
Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church, Miller with Rev. Brian Jones officiating. Burial followed at G.A.R. Cemetery, Miller. Visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 2, 2018 with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service, all at the church.
Oliver Michael Block was born June 12, 2017 at 10:53 a.m. at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown, South Dakota. He was greeted by his parents, Jesse and Shawn (Waters) Block, who had waited so long for him. At only 3 months old, Ollie moved with his mom and dad to Miller, South Dakota.
Oliver loved his right thumb, foxy, morning snuggles and tickle time with dad, evening snuggles and story time with mom. He had found joy in getting as much water as possible on the floor during bath time and was experimenting with new foods to chew with his two bottom teeth.
Oliver was loved immensely, his parents waited so long for him. He brought light to everyone he met, he was the perfect baby.
Ollie leaves behind his parents, Jesse and Shawn Block of Miller; his grandparents: Michael and Beverly Block of Grenville, SD, Mike Waters and Karie (Brian) Waters, both of Wessington Springs; great grandparents: Odon and Joan Corr of Mitchell and Lowell Waters of Wessington; aunts and uncles: Margaret (Brian) Schuelke of Lennox, Susie (Gary) Glissendorf of Sioux Falls, Todd (Barbra) Block of Roslyn, Weston (Chelsea) Waters of Huron, and Matt (Natasha) Waters of Wessington Springs; cousins: Alex, Emma, Kendall, Ethan, Tyler, Logan, Carter, Rhaelyn, Casen, and Carlayna; his birth mom and brothers: Hillary, Sawyer, and Huxley of Watertown; his furry friend, Winston; and his loving daycare family along with numerous family members and friends that will miss him.
Meeting him in Heaven are his cousins, Owen and Megan; and great grandparents: Melvin, Margaret, Ceil, Al, JoAnn, Betty, and Carolyn.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Ollie's arrangements.

My heart hurts for your family. I can not imagine the heartache you are going through. Know that there are many people praying for you, some like myself that you do not even know. Ollie has been on my mind since I started following his story. This is not how I prayed it would end. Shawn and Jesse, though I don’t know you personally, you two along with Ollie are constantly in my thoughts and prayers. I’m so so sorry. Though my words won’t ease the pain. Prayers are with you and your family at this very difficult time, though I never knew Ollie, I got to know him through the Facebook pictures, he looked like such a happy little man, I hope time will heal the loss of Ollie, may god be with you.

While I don’t know you, I happened to see the picture of your precious little boy and just wanted to leave a note. My heart is breaking for you – he’s just so adorable. I can’t imagine the pain of losing such a precious little guy and want you to know you are in my prayers for comfort.
