Orville MarrowBone

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. MDT, Friday, October 30, 2009 at the Cherry Creek Gym. Burial followed in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cemetery at Cherry Creek. Wake services were held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 29, 2009 at the gym.
Orville Silas MarrowBone “Cumani” was born to Linda Yellow Owl MarrowBone and Gary MarrowBone, Sr. on October 29, 1967 in Cherry Creek, SD. He attended Cherry Creek Day School, Red Scaffold School, Morman Placement Program in Idaho, Crow Creek High School and graduated from Cheyenne Eagle Butte School in May 1986.
He enlisted in the US Army in May of 1988. He completed Basic Training in Fort Jackson, SC, and then was stationed in Fort Sill, OK. While serving in the US Army, he received numerous awards, citations and certificates. Orville completed combat tour in Operation Desert Shield/Storm in Iraq, receiving an honorable discharge on August 16, 1991.
Orville married Hazel Rackler and to this union three children were born, Roger, Alex and Jordan Sophie MarrowBone. From his children he had one special granddaughter, Sharae Joycelynn MarrowBone, whom he loved very much.
Later in his life, Orville lived in Rapid City, SD and worked in construction. He recently was attending Oglala Lakota College in Eagle Butte, SD pursuing a business degree.
Orville loved to cook and grill at all family gatherings. He loved to joke around with family and friends, always had a smile, which will be missed the most by family.
Orville is survived by his children: Roger, Alex and Jordan MarrowBone; granddaughter, Sharae MarrowBone; Mother, Linda MarrowBone; sisters: Ophelia (Billy) Dupris, Edna (Harold) Tyndall, Germain (Daren, Sr.) LeClaire; adopted sister, Bernadine (Percy) Dupris; brothers: Gary, Jr., Dewey, Justin, Scott and Beryle; aunts and uncles: Auntie Pauline B. Eagle Chasing, Uncle Roland and Aunt Barbara Roach, Aunt Ernestine (Mervin) Frazier, Aunt Mayda (Wesley) LeBeau and Aunt Lulu Fisherman; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gary MarrowBone, Sr.; brother, Royce; sister, Erma; two cousins, Delema Eagle Chasing and DeeAnn Demery.
Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte has been entrusted with Orville's arrangements.
