Otho S. Eaton, 90, of Orient, passed away, Wednesday, January 23, 2013 in Orient.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Orient with Fr. Thomas Clement presiding.  Inurnment followed in the church cemetery. A prayer service was held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the church in Orient.

Otho S. Eaton was born August 14, 1922 in Hand County, SD to Orville and Josephine (Mueller) Eaton. He spent most of his life in the Orient area and attended Orient High School.
 

Otho spent 2 ½ years in the U.S. Air Force during WWII.

He was united in marriage to Dolores Baloun on August 24, 1948. They made their home and raised their family in Orient. For one year, Otho managed the Farmers Elevator in Orient. In November 1949 he became a rural mail carrier out of the Orient Post Office and retired in 1987.

Otho has belonged to many local organizations and held offices in several throughout the years. He was a lifetime member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and was also an avid hunter and trapper for many years. He loved his tractors and his “little” acreage east of town. He spent hours spraying and mowing weeds to keep it neat and looking great.

Left to cherish Otho’s 90 years is his wife Dolores; his children: Anita Selting, Huron, Nancy (Mike) Gulbrandson, Brandon, Debra (John) Lantz, Grand Island, NE, Paul (Sandra) Eaton, Aberdeen, Lynette (Paul) Meyer, Grand Island, NE, Jodene (Donald) Clement, Orient, and Russel (Charlene) Eaton, Summerset, SD; 21 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three sisters: Maxine (Lloyd) Oleson, Mitchell, Mary (Richard) Kelly, Young America, MN and Janet Eaton, Hopkins, MN; two brothers: Ted (Wanda) Eaton, Sun City West, AZ and Dick (Evie) Eaton, Lewiston, ID; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, Danny; one infant granddaughter, Christina Clement; one infant sister, Colleen and sister, Virginia Strasburg; two brothers: Gordon and Kevin Eaton and one sister-in-law, Annie Eaton.

Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Otho’s arrangements.

I know you are in a better place but I wish I could see your face and tell you with my whole heart that I LOVE you to the moon and back.
