OTTO HAGENLOCK

Otto Hagenlock, age 99 of Faulkton, died Thursday, February 19, 2004 at the Faulkton Hospital.

Funeral services was 10:30 AM Monday, February 23, 2004 at the Our Savior Lutheran Church, Faulkton with Rev. Junfeng Tan officiating. Burial was in the Faulkton Cemetery under the direction of the Luce Funeral Home, Faulkton. Prayer services was held at 5 PM Sunday, February 22, 2004 at the Our Savior Lutheran Church, Faulkton. Visitation began at 9 AM Sunday at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to the prayer service and funeral at the church.

Otto Hagenlock was born on October 10, 1904 at Grinnell, Iowa to William and Anna (Ahrens) Hagenlock. In the spring of 1910 he moved with his family to Seneca where he attended country school and later school in Seneca. He helped his father on the farm and at the age of sixteen, he began farming on his own. He married Grace Roseland on January 26, 1927 in Redfield, SD. They made their home on a farm south of Seneca. He farmed for forty-six years, raised cattle, hogs, and some sheep, the sheep saved the farm during the depression. Otto never cared for sheep and sold them in 1942 and continued to raise hogs and cattle, selling the hogs in 1950. In 1970, he sold all the cattle. In March of 1974, he retired and they moved into Faulkton. In 2000, he entered the Faulkton Assisted Living and in November 2002, he entered the Faulkton Health Care Center.

He was a charter member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Seneca and became a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church after moving to Faulkton. He also was a member of the Autumn Leaves Senior Center in Faulkton. He enjoyed music and dancing but his true love was his family, farming, and livestock.

Otto is survived by his wife of 77 years Grace Hagenlock of Faulkton; daughter Marilyn (Harrold) Rinehart of Highmore; son-in-law Art (Janice) Hardie of Faulkton; 8 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Elaine; 2 sisters; 5 brothers; 2 half-sisters; and 1 half-brother.

Pallbearers were Larry Hardie, Doyle Hardie, Gary Hardie, Brady Rinehart, David Rinehart, and John Grunewaldt. Honorary Pallbearers were his great-grandchildren.

Ushers were Tom Heller and Orin Melius.

Organist was Beth Deiter and singing was Kristi Hoefert.
