Phyllis Doris Red Bull was born March 27, 1946 to Jacob and Matilda (Little Crow) Red Bull in Red Scaffold; where she has lived her whole life.

In 1963, Phyllis married Dwight David Collins. This union was blessed with nine children.

Phyllis was very extraordinary. She was kind and funny. She will be remembered for her cooking and her voice. Her voice was so soft and soothing. She would do anything for anyone before doing anything for herself. Cooking was a favorite of hers and one would never leave her place without getting enough to eat.

As the family reflects on her life, they think Phyllis would say, “Don’t remember all of the bad things, remember me for all of the good - the laughter and happiness. Keep your head held high!”

Phyllis was greatly loved. A love that will never go away. She has loved so many people and will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but she wouldn’t want anyone to remember the suffering. She would want everyone to remember her smile and laugh. So celebrate her life and how she touched each and every one and thank God you all got to be part of it!

Those left to cherish her life are her children: David Collins, Sheila Collins, Mary Collins Burkett, Stella Collins Broome, Dee Collins Hiserote, William Collins, Pauline Collins and Thomas Collins; 22 grandchildren; two siblings: Bryon Charging Cloud and Prairie Rose Iron Hawk; and many other loved ones.

Phyllis was greeted in heaven by her parents; her husband; one son, Marlon “Abe” Red Bull; granddaughter, Aspen Duchscherer; and son-in-law, Dale Duchscherer.

Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte has been entrusted with Phyllis’ arrangements.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. My thoughts and prayers are with all of Phyllis’ loved ones. May God guide and comfort you all during this most difficult time. I really enjoyed getting to know Phyllis. She was a great lady and I will truly miss her.

  2. Dear Family of Phyllis, Sending you thoughts and Prayers on the loss of you Mother. I remember cooking with Phyllis at the Freeman ranch house (Pard and Irene). Uncle Dwight and Aunt Phyllis would come to our house, just a few miles north of Red Scaffold, and help out with ranching activities. Phyllis and I got stuck with cooking for everyone, but I never heard her complain or ever say anything negative about anyone. She was a kind and gentle person and very patient with me and her entire family. Blessings, Jeannette Freeman
