Ramona Potter

Ramona J. Potter, 86, of Faulkton, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Community Memorial Hospital, Redfield.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 24, 2014 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Faulkton with Fr. John Helmueller and Fr. Chris Hughes, celebrants. Burial followed in St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2014 with a 7:00 p.m. wake service at the funeral home.

Ramona J. Anglin was born June 7, 1928 in Faulkton SD. She was the oldest of 13 children born to Delbert and Elizabeth (Clement) Anglin. Ramona attended school in the Orient and Faulkton School Systems. Following her education Ramona helped raise her brothers and sisters after the death of her father.

On May 18, 1946 Ramona was united in marriage to Bill Potter at Faulkton. They made their home in Faulkton where she worked for Pat Deiter. Later she worked for Gertie Wakefield at the Snack Shop and Bob and Lucille Dienslake at the Red Owl Store. Ramona then purchased the Snack Shop and ran that until retiring in the early 1990’s.

Ramona loved spending her free time with her kids and grandkids. She also enjoyed doing puzzles and reading. Ramona dedicated a large amount of time to helping others, including the Autumn Leaves Senior Center and the Meals on Wheels Program. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and the St. Thomas Altar Society.

Ramona also enjoyed each of her grand cats: Fergie, Ike and Sigh and her grand dogs: Boone, Jettie, Chase and Mitch.

Those grateful for having shared in her life are her children: Gaylene Strandbakke of Redfield, Anita Suazo of Bozeman, MT and Denise (Brad) Ogren of Sioux Falls; her grandchildren: Cory (Jennifer) Wagner, Jason (Marci) Suazo, Paula (Steve) Western, Cody Strandbakke, Amanda (Michael) Francis, Mike (Brandy) Suazo, and Jon Suazo; seven great grandchildren; siblings: Marlene (Ed) Meier of Bartlett, TN, David (Kaye) Anglin of Ipswich, Charlotte (Lee) Pearson of Paradise, CA, Dick (Carol) Anglin of Glendale, AZ, Carolyn (Walt) Kaiser of Faulkton, Linda Bohman of Marine on St. Croix, MN and Dianne Castro of Oakridge, NJ and many nieces and nephews.

Ramona was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill; daughter, Gerri Ann; sons-in-law: Steve Suazo and Lars Strandbakke; and her siblings: Nadine Lambert, Robert “Lefty” Anglin, Jim Anglin, Jerome Anglin and Janet Kukrall.
