Rebecca Condon Mejia

Rebecca Nancy (Condon) Mejia, 65, of Orem, UT and formerly of Cherry Creek, SD passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2017 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, Provo, UT.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. MDT, Saturday, June 10, 2017, at the Cherry Creek Gym, Cherry Creek with Mother Margaret Watson presiding. Burial followed in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cemetery, Cherry Creek. Wake services were held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 9, 2017, at the gym.

Rebecca “Becky” Nancy Condon was born July 17, 1951 to Felix and Mary (Little Wounded) Condon at the Old Cheyenne Agency. She was the youngest of 16 children. Becky spent most of her childhood in Cherry Creek with her mother, Mary. They would go out in the country to visit Mr. and Mrs. Olney Runs After’s home. On one of her visits, she made friends with a baby deer so Olney named her “Tahca Win”. When Becky was school age, her mother sent her to boarding school in Eagle Butte, SD, until she was in junior high. At this time Becky wanted to go on to the Indian Placement Program in Idaho; where she graduated from Preston High School in Preston, ID. Following graduation, she continued her schooling by enrolling in Behavior Science at Brigham Young University, Provo, UT. At this time, she had her first child, Quentin Condon. Becky eventually met and married, Ted Lewis, Sr. and to this union Ted Jr. was born. Later she met Michael Lewis and together they had Rhiannon and Mary. Becky’s children and grandchildren were her life. She made friends wherever she went. On May 30, 2017, Becky became ill and was placed in the hospital in Provo, Utah; where she was surrounded by her loved ones as she made her journey to the spirit world.

Rebecca is survived by her son, Ted (Gina) Lewis Jr., Spanish Forks, UT; daughters: Rhiannon (Luis) Martinez, Bakersfield, CA, and Mary (Richardo) Ruiz, Orem, UT; 14 grandchildren; one great grandchild; husband: Ramon Mejia Hernandez, Mexico; sisters: Delia Hale, Rapid City, and Gloria Belmonte, Cherry Creek; brother, Duane Standing Bear, Dupree; aunt, Ellen In The Woods, Dupree; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Felix and Mary Condon; her beloved son, Quentin Condon; brothers: Isaac, Harold, James, George, Franklin, Lenis, Floyd, Frankie, Cedric, and Cyril; and her sisters: Madonna and Verna.

Becky will be missed by all of her relatives.
