Reta Rodman, 68, of Highmore, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016 at the Avera Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Highmore with Roger Day officiating.  Burial followed at the Highmore Cemetery.  Visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2016 with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service, all at Luze Funeral Home, Highmore.

Reta was born on June 8, 1947 in Highmore, SD to the late Jim and Hazel (Westcott) Smith. Except for a few years in Huron, she spent her childhood in Highmore and graduated from Highmore High School in 1965. Following graduation, she attended Huron College of Commerce and began her life-long career in insurance with First State Bank in Highmore. On May 4, 1968, she married her high school sweetheart, Barry Rodman. They were blessed with two daughters and made their home in Highmore. She loved to read, go camping, play pinochle and spend time with her grandchildren.

She will be remembered for her welcoming spirit, kindness of heart, love of life and sense of humor. 

Reta is survived by her husband, Barry; two daughters: Stacy Rodman of Highmore and Tonia (Greg) Warzecha of Harrisburg; and six grandchildren: Khia, Lane, Logan, Barry, William, and Ana.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and several aunts and uncles.

Luze Funeral Home of Highmore has been entrusted with Reta’s arrangements.
