Richard N. Bose, 92, of St. Lawrence, died Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at the Avera Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 29 at the New Beginnings Worship Center in Miller with Rev. Daryn Pederson officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, September 28 from 3:30-5:00 p.m. with a 5:00 p.m. prayer service all at Rembold Funeral Home in St. Lawrence. Burial will follow at G.A.R. Cemetery in Miller.
Richard Bose was born September 5, 1922 at Wessington, SD to Henry and Millie (Nelson) Bose. He attended country school until High School in St Lawrence, graduating with the Class of 1939. As one of their oldest alumni, Richard shared the honor of Parade Marshall with longtime friend and neighbor, George Melber during St Lawrence 125th Anniversary Celebration this past July. During his lifetime Richard was active in his church, Full Gospel Businessmens, Flying Farmers, Farmer Bureau, and The Pony of Americas Club.
An only child, Richard grew up and stayed on the family farm north of St Lawrence. On August 29, 1945 he married the love of his life, Lydia Zvonek, who had been teaching at the nearby country school. In the early years of their life together Richard and Lydia committed their lives fully to the Lord Jesus, claiming him as Savior. They enjoyed working together, raising grain and cattle, showing horses, travelling, and flying his private plane. To this union of 58 years, one daughter, Judi, three grandchildren, Dawne, Dave Jr., and JoyAnna, and twelve great-grandchildren were born.
In November 2004 Richard married Jan (McCool) Allen.
Richard was a man of great faith, living a life of servitude, wisdom, and integrity. Friends and family describe him as a quiet man who often showed a playful smile.
Survivors include his daughter and spouse, Judi (David) VanHeuvelen of Miller, grandchildren, Dawne (Matt) Olson of Vermillion, SD, Dave (Laura) VanHeuvelen Jr of Emmetsburg, IA, Joy (Bryan) Wedan of Oakdale, MN and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lydia, and second wife, Janice.
He was welcomed into Heaven by his Savior and Lord Jesus, many friends and family members including a grandchild and great-grandchild he?d never met on this earth.

Dear Judy, David and family,
We are so sorry for your loss but are rejoicing in the knowledge that your daddy is walking the streets of gold without the pain and sorrow he has carried for so long. We have so many precious memories of our times together when we had the privilige to be his pastors. Our prayers are for the arms of the Lord to be around you holding you all and the comfort of the Holy Spirit througout the days and weeks ahead!
Although have not seen Richard in years, he will always be remembered as a gentle,kind, Christian neighbor. Rest in peace. Will see you later.
We just learned of Richard’s homegoing today. I have fond memories of this special family. Great neighbors! My thoughts and prayers are with the family. May God give you all comfort.
