Richard Carr, 83, of Huron, formerly of Faulkton passed away, Saturday, February 11, 2012 at his home in Huron.

Funeral service were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at the United Church of Faulkton with Pastors Bill Hoffmann and Barry Whipkey officiating. Burial followed in the Faulkton Cemetery. Visitation was held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2012 with family present at Luce Funeral Home, Faulkton.

Richard was born October 18, 1928 to Earl and Clara (Herman) Carr in Faulkton, SD. He attended both country school and Faulkton High School. Richard then went to work for area farmers prior to his enlistment with the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.

Upon his return he worked for Joie Holt. On February 24, 1955 he married Joyce Bass. They made their home in Faulkton where they raised their two sons, Kirk and Rory.  In the summer of 1955 Richard went to work for FEM Electric where he worked as a lineman until his retirement in 1990.

He was a member of the United Church of Faulkton; the Oddfellow’s Lodge, was a volunteer fireman and attended Riverside Methodist Church in Huron. Richard enjoyed spending his free time playing cards, hunting, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family.

His life will be cherished by his sons: Kirk (Bab) of Huron and Rory of Sioux Falls; grandsons: Andrew (Kristen) of Fargo, ND and Jeremy of Brookings; great grandchildren: Molly and Connor Carr of Fargo, ND; sisters-in-law: Clarissa Rush and Jesse Overaker of Aberdeen, and Evelyn (Bob) Cooper, Darlene Carr and Grace Carr of Faulkton; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce on October 15, 2006 and his brothers:  George, Harold, Clarence and Elmer Carr and Roger Moul.
