Robert King, 69, of St. Lawrence passed away Saturday, August 27, 2016 in Mount Vernon, SD.

Memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Reck Funeral Home, Miller with Rev. Matt Richards officiating.  Burial with military honors followed at the St. Lawrence Cemetery.

Robert William King was born in Miller on December 12, 1946 to Bernard and Joyce (Vogelgesang) King.  He attended St. Lawrence grade school and Miller High School.  He joined the U.S. Navy in 1965 and served during the Vietnam War on the USS Allagash. 

On March 5, 1977, Robert married Janet Walker.  Robert had several jobs during his life time but finished his working career with the Resel Farms.

Robert's hobbies included fishing, bowling, hunting, woodworking, stock car racing with his father, and occasionally a trip to the casinos. 

Grateful for sharing in his life are his father, Bernard King of Battleground, WA; sisters, Kathy (Gary) Jensen of Battleground, WA, Karen (Randy) Hedge of Custer, Julie (Charlie) Gaetze of Yacolt, WA, and Linda (Robert) Hoffman of Mount Vernon; special friend, Shirley McFarlane; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; father-in-law, John Walker of Pierre; sister-in-law, Joyce Schomberg of Pierre; and Judy Bouzek of Huron.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet (Walker) King and his mother, Joyce King.

Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Robert's arrangements.
