Rodney Paul Edinger was born December 20, 1942 at Mitchell, SD to Earl and Imogene (Bergquist) Edinger. He attended school in Cooper Township, Aurora County and later at Wessington Springs. On December 29, 1959 Rodney enlisted in the United States Navy serving until his honorable discharge on December 3, 1963.

Following his service time Rodney worked as a milkman, a police officer, a logger and in the coal mines. In 1966 he married Marcella Boeding and together they were blessed with two children, Nicole and Mark.

Rodney had many interest in life. He always enjoyed having coffee with his buddies, family get together’s, teasing his sisters, fishing and hunting and spending time snowmobiling and riding motorcycles. He will be remembered for his love of chocolate covered cherries and banana cream pie, having a great sense of humor, his mechanical ability with cars and his knack for being able to fix anything.

But above all, his grandchildren changed his way and outlook on life. He enjoyed every minute that life allowed him to spend with them.

Left to cherish Rodney’s life are his mother: Imogene Edinger of Highmore; children: Nicole (Scott) Gradberg of Medford, WI and Mark (Claudia) Edinger of South Korea; four grandchildren: Nathan “Hockey Jockey”, Kaitlin, Marcella and Dillon; sisters: Becky King of Bowdle, Brenda King (Curtis Card) of Spearfish, Judith Dobbs of Rapid City and Joy (Buckie) Huehl of Watertown.

His wife, Marcella Edinger and father, Earl Edinger preceded him in death.
