Roger L. Bertsch, 75, of Miller, passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society in Miller.
 
Funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 17, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Miller with Rev. Max Miller officiating. Burial followed at the St. Lawrence Cemetery. Visitation was held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, October 16, 2016 followed by a 4:00 p.m. prayer service, all at Trinity Lutheran Church, Miller.

Roger LeRoy Bertsch was born September 16, 1941 at Miller, SD to Ewald and Leona (Christman) Bertsch. He attended Odessa Country School through 8th grade and graduated from Miller High School in 1959. He worked at First National Bank in Miller after graduation. While in high school he met Myrna Testerman and they were married July 1, 1960. At this time, they began farming full time north of St. Lawrence where they made their home for 52 years. They moved to Miller in 2012.

Roger’s true passion was farming and he especially loved harvest time. He also had a great love of the outdoors, hunting pheasants and deer, and fishing. Spending time enjoying these hobbies with his kids and grandkids was one of his favorite things. Roger made many good friends while selling Conklin products and seed. He and Myrna enjoyed many fun vacations through those companies. He loved auctions, visiting, and any card game with neighbors, friends and family. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on the Holden Township Board for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Myrna; children Randy Bertsch of Miller, Kent (Janet) Bertsch of St. Lawrence, Suzanne (Dan) Keck of St. Lawrence, Dianne (Gary) Neyens of Miller, and Marty (Michele) Bertsch of Watertown; sister, Shirley (Glen) Cornwell of Texas; brother, Gary (Beth) Bertsch of Florida; 13 grandchildren: Allison and Adam Bertsch; Kayla (Charles) Fawcett, Kyle and Ashley Bertsch; Clayton, Cassidy, Karli Ann and Kennedy Keck; Garrett and Gavin Neyens; Matthew and Michael Bertsch; one great-grandchild, Morgan Fawcett; sister-in-law, Jerry (Terry) Meek of Webster; brother-in-law, Douglas (JoAnn) Testerman of St. Lawrence; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Russel and Berniece Testerman; brothers-in-law: Larry Testerman and Jess Collins; daughter-in-law, Rene’ Bertsch; and grandson Casey Keck.

Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Roger’s arrangements.
