Roger W. Bent, 78, of Faulkton, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2020 at the Faulkton Area Medical Center.

A private graveside service was held at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery, Faulkton.

Roger William Bent was born November 4, 1941 in Faulk County, SD to Arthur and Lena (Ickler) Bent. He was raised on a farm in Faulk County, graduated from Faulkton High School in 1959 and went on to attended Fargo trade School and MDA school in Aberdeen for mechanics. Roger was a farm hand and auto mechanic before starting his own repair shop and salvage yard in 1989.

On March 2, 1962 Roger was united in marriage to Maryann Pfeifer. To this union three children were born, Tim, Jacqueline, and Audrey.

In Roger’s free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching birds and wildlife.

Roger’s life will be cherished by his wife, Maryann; son, Tim (Melissa) Bent of Webster; daughter, Audrey (Les) Helm of Redfield; grandchildren: Dalton (Halie) Martchinske of Miranda, Tristen Bent and Ciera Bent, both of Webster; brother, Dick (JoAnn) Bent; and brother-in-law, Robert Meyer of Orient.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Arthur and Lena Bent; one infant daughter, Jacqueline; three sisters: Deloris Ford, Bonnie Meyer, and Donna Schmidt; brother, Charles Bent; and brother-in-law, Bud Ford.

Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Roger’s arrangements.

 

A Private Burial was held on July 15, 2020 at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery, south of Faulkton going towards Orient in Faulkton, South Dakota 57438

  6. I always thought of Roger as “the gentle giant”; he was so kind and so tall (my perspective). I loved how he could see something the rest of us might see as ordinary or dull and he could see the uniqueness in it and maybe find an alternative use for it. 
    Thinking of you all and sending prayers for peace and comfort.

  7. My sorrow is so deep for you and your family. I so enjoyed spending time you and Roger when we could. I will always have fond memories of Roger. The Bents were always there for my mother and I. Maryann, my deepest sympathy at the passing of Roger.  My grinning buddy, Rest In Peace.   Although we haven’t been in touch since the last class reunion it was always fun to cover 5 years in 15 minutes.  Roger was always a TRUE friend since he came into Faulkton for high school oh so many years again
