Rosalie E. Wahlen

Rosalie E. Wahlen, 100, of Faulkton, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Faulkton Area Medical Center, surrounded by loving family.

Celebration of Life will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 17, 2026, at the United Church of Faulkton with Brent Koens presiding. Burial will follow in the Faulkton Cemetery. Visitation will be one-hour prior to the service at the church.

Rosalie was born on February 22, 1926, to the late Arthur and Margaret Anderson in Lebanon, SD. They later moved to Seneca, SD where she graduated from Seneca High School.

Rosalie married Russel Wahlen on January 31, 1947, and they made their home in Faulkton, SD. Together they had five children, Dennis (Carol) Wahlen, Dean (Sheila) Wahlen, Darrel, Glenda, and Boyce (Diane) Wahlen. She has three grandchildren, Derron, Mark, and Kristina and 10 great grandchildren.

Rosalie loved her family dearly and enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They all brought so much joy into her life. She was a wonderful homemaker and worked in many other capacities throughout her life. In the past she attended the Methodist Church and worked as a janitor there for many years. She faithfully watches Reverend Salem every Sunday morning in closed caption. She enjoyed card parties with her friends, scrapbooking, of which she has over 60 albums, crocheting, putting puzzles together, and doing fill in word puzzle books. She loved to sit outside on her bench and look at her flowers and wave to people as they passed by.

Rosalie loved life and was in it for the long haul and she made it! She kept on moving even when it was difficult and she always had a great sense of humor. She was loved by family and friends, and all were inspired by and proud of her fighting spirit and tenacity to keep on going.

Rosalie is survived by four of her children, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren; and one sister, Lois (Lloyd) Mouchet of Littleton Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russel; one son, Darrel; eleven siblings: Doris (Burt) Coyle, Kenneth (Delores) Anderson, Helen (Antone) Vetch, Melvin (Corrine) Anderson, baby Lorraine, Donald (Brenda) Anderson, Glenn (Frances}Anderson, Leroy (Wanda) Anderson and Arthur “Bud” (Dorothy) Anderson.

Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Rosalie’s arrangements.

  11. I will cherish the times we spent together at My Grandpa and Grandma Wahlen’s when your Mom and Dad would come to visit ,play cards and dominos. Your Mom would come to the Dahme Reunion and hang out with all of us. But most of all the letters she and I would write back and forth the last few years . She was an Amazing lady. I was Blessed to have spent time with her as a ked and an adult. Hugs to you the Family.

  15. To the family of our beloved Aunt Rosalie. I was so sorry to hear of her unfortunate passing. I have many great memories beginning as kids when we would spend the 4th of July week at the farm house. Fall hunting season was also a time of get together. We even asked her to get us a 6-pack of “nickelobe”. That was a good one. Even in the later years I enjoyed the breakfast chats with her and Uncle Russ when I Passed thru . You are loved and will never be forgotten. You made a difference in my life.
