Rosina Yager

Rosina Yager, 87, of Miller, passed away Friday, July 25, 2008 at her daughter’s residence in Ft. Pierre.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church, Wessington with Rev. Allen Sager officiating. Burial was in the Wessington Cemetery. Visitation was held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 28 with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at Reck Funeral Home in Miller.
Rosina Agnes Rowen was born in Hand County, South Dakota, on November 16, 1920, to Alexander and Frances (Lichty) Rowen. She started school at the Harris School near the Rowen homestead and moved with her parents attending different Hand County schools until her parents purchased the farm north of Vayland and attended Miller High School, graduating in 1936.
Following high school, she worked for the Hand County Superintendent. She met the love of her live and married Ralph H. Yager on October 26, 1940, at Hartington, Nebraska. They chose to farm and raise their family in Hand County.
In 1977, she and her husband retired and enjoyed traveling throughout the USA, Canada, and Mexico. They spent the winter months in south Texas.
Rosina loved her family dearly, enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, singing and playing cards. She was always interested in learning and was an active member of the Hand County Extension clubs and a leader of 4-H for many years.
In 1995, her husband, Ralph passed away. After his death, she moved to the Miller Plaza apartment, where she enjoyed her many friends and doing volunteer work. In January 2005, she moved to live with her daughter, Dena, in Ft. Pierre, who lovingly cared for her until her death.
Left to cherish her life are her four children: L. Annette (Jack) Snodgrass of Miller, SD, Duane (Sonya) Yager of Missoula, MT, Diana (Greg) McCann of Springfield, SD, and Dena (Randy) Gabriel of Ft. Pierre, SD; her eight grandchildren: Dvonna (John) Kienow of Mobridge, SD, Jason (Melinda) Yager of Manhattan, MT, Kevin (Karina) Yager of Bozeman, MT, Robbyn Yager of Bozeman, MT, Grant McCann of san Mateo, CA, Holly McCann of San Mateo, CA, Troy (fiancé-Andrea) Gabriel of Clark, SD, and Rachel Gabriel of Springfield, MO; ten great-grandchildren: Tiffani (Mickael) Huss, Jordan Kienow, Sofia Yager, Laurel Yager, Rebekah Yager, Clara Yager, Katherine Yager, Dylan Gabriel, Dominick Gabriel, and Jesse James Gabriel; two step-great grandchildren: Dylan Langseng and Ethan Behnke; two great-great grandchildren: Haidyn and Haylie Huss; three brothers: Kenneth (Mary-Margaret) Rowen of Lawrence, KS, Edwin (Janice) Rowen of St. Lawrence, SD, and Eugene (Joyce) Rowen of Waconia, MN; two brother-in-laws: Avery Brown of Coeur D’Alene, ID and George Yager of San Joaquin, CA; and one sister-in-law: Betty Josewski of Redfield, SD.
Preceding her in death are her parents: husband Ralph; two sisters: Delores Brown and Lucille Rowen; and two brother-in-laws.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Rosina's arrangements.
