Ruth Roeber
July 12, 1923 ~ November 11, 2018
Ruth Roeber, 95, of Miller, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Miller.
Memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Miller with Pastor David Peterson officiating. Burial followed at G.A.R. Cemetery, Miller.
She was born July 12, 1923 on a farm north of St. Lawrence, SD to Roland and Opal (Skinner) Freimark. At the age of 3, her parents moved to a farm north of Miller, SD. She attended 12 years of school in Miller, graduating in 1941. She was employed at the ASC office prior to entering the School of Nursing at the Methodist State Hospital, Mitchell, SD in 1942. After graduating, she was employed there as night supervisor until her marriage to Delton Roeber of Tulare, SD, in May 1946 in Miller City, Montana. They resided on a farm in northeast Hand County.
Ruth returned to the nursing profession in October 1957 and was employed by the Hand County Memorial Hospital until 1972 at which time she began working at the Hand County Clinic. She semi-retired in 1988 and fully retired in July 1995 at 72 yrs old. Nursing was her life. Many who she attended can probably provide their own stories about Ruth with her “tell it like it is” approach. She touched many people’s lives.
Ruth was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, former member of Senior Citizens, Jolly Stitchers and Ree Heights Community Club. After retiring, she helped with the local Blood Drives, working at the registration table and making reminder phone calls until 2015. She enjoyed working in her yard and garden, watching the Twins play on TV, and playing cards where she disliked losing. Family members knew her to be creative when she played.
Ruth is survived by her son, Russell (Pam) Roeber, St. Charles, Mo.; two granddaughters, Lauri (John) Witt, Overland Park, Ks. and Staci Roeber, Spring, Tx.; and two great grandsons, Alex and Carter Witt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and three brothers, Ronald, Ralph and Russell Freimark.
Memorial contributions may be made in Ruth’s name to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Miller or Good Samaritan Society in Miller.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Ruth’s arrangements.

How saddened we are to read of Ruth’s passing–I knew you were leaving on Monday so had planned to visit her on Tuesday. We have many good memories of the "working" Ruth and have enjoyed my many visits with her through the years. I treasure the hand work That she created. May your good memories and God’s love and grace bring you peace.
I am so sorry to hear of Ruth’s passing. She was a fun, caring, awesome lady and nurse. I had the privilege of working with her at the hospital. She was also a wonderful friend to my Grandma Lorraine Blachford, and my grandchildren loved visiting her as much as I loved seeing her when I was a child. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Sending our sympathy to Ruth’s family. I am writing for my 95 year-old mother, Miriam Taylor, a friend of Ruth’s since school days. They were able to keep up with written communication until just a few years ago.
Sorry for your loss Our Deepest Sympathy Dr. Dick and Kathy (Stobbs) Splichal
Sorry to hear of Ruth going to the Angels. She will be missed by many. Now Ruth can join my Mom (Lois Allen) in terrorizing the other angels in heaven. 😇

SHE HAS EARNED HER WINGS!!! I was honored to work with Ruth before I went to college for nursing. I learned so much from her & truly enjoyed working with her!
Ruth was a special lady and an outstanding nurse at the clinic in Miller for many years. She gave me more than one tetanus shot over the years when I was a kid after I had stepped on a rusty nail. She was also great friends for many years with my Grandmother Lorraine Blachford.
I am the daughter of Vera Schmidt Zens – Mom thoughly enjoyed Ruth’s company. I also enjoyed the times they visited Mom in Redfield specifically for her birthday. Please accept my sincere sympathy in your loss.
My sympathies Russ (and family). Your Mom was a special “character”! I have lots of fun memories of her.
Russ & family, my sympathy for the loss of your mother & grandmother. Loved that Ruth dearly. I have many great memories of my visits to the clinic and her visits to my office. She always wanted to be the first one in the County to pay her taxes! She has earned her angel wings!
It has been our honor and privilege to care for Ruth. Thank you for allowing us to care and love on them. We hope you are finding peace and rest during this new transition. ~AseraCare Hospice Team
