Seth Junior Hall was born on July 8, 1931, on the family farm southwest of Carthage, South Dakota, to Seth and Hope (Sneesby) Hall. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carthage. After completing his 8th grade education at Redstone Country School, Seth worked alongside his father on the farm until he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1952.
During the Korean War, while on a 72-hour leave, Seth married the love of his life, Joyce Tollefson, in Gardena, California. Following an honorable discharge in 1954, he returned home to Carthage, where he and Joyce built a life together, raising their four children: Randy, Monica, Robert, and Kurt.
Seth was deeply committed to his faith and community, serving at the Lutheran Church, as a 4-H leader, and on the Miner County Extension Boards.
In September of 1977, he moved to Ree Heights to manage the Stanley Johnston Quarter Horse Ranch, a role he held for six years. In 1983, he and Joyce relocated to Lebanon, Oregon, where he worked for the high school FFA farm for 10 years before returning to Ree Heights. There, he became an active member of the Ree Heights Church and the Town and Country Club.
A proud patriot, Seth was a lifetime member of the American Legion, VFW, and Marine Corps League.
Seth had a deep love for horses and cattle, but his greatest joy was his family. He cherished his wife, Joyce, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren above all else.
Grateful to have shared his life are his children: Randy (Mona) Hall, Monica (Lance) Callies, daughter-in-law, Sandi Hall, and Kurt (Karla) Hall; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and sisters, Ardyce Nyland and Eunice Gillam.
Preceded in death by his wife, Joyce of 66 years; son, Robert “Bob” Hall; brothers, George and Ernest; and sister, Gladys.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Seth's arrangements.

My sincere sympathy to the families of Seth Hall.
Our sympathy to the family will be greatly missed.
Seth got to be one of my best buddies at GS! Just last week I helped him and a couple of other residents with their Bingo cards. He always amazed me just how well he could play with his poor eyesight. We had a lot of fun during Sunday afternoon church services too! Sometime I’ll tell you about the cute things he would say! My deepest condolences to the entire family on the loss of your precious Seth. He was the nicest man. ❤️🙏❤️🙏
I am so sorry Randy and family about the loss of your father and Grandfather. Hold on to all those wonderful memories of him Sincerely, Kay Hodges
Sending our sincere condolences to the Hall family on Seth's passing.
Seth was my youngest brother and we were very close as children and never lost contact when older. He was so amazing, being without his sight, but never a complaint about anything. A true South Dakotan.
Our thoughts and prayers to the Hall family!! Seth was quite a guy! His smile and good nature was inherited by all of his kids!!! Hugs to all!🙏🏻
Seth was my "little brother" and we had a lot of fun growing up on the family farm. I really enjoyed when they moved to Oregon and we were able to spend more time together. A Lot of special memories were made that I can hold on too. He was a great brother!!
Sympathy to Seth’s Family, he was a very friendly and happy man to all.
