SherRon Lydia Langley, 38, was born on July 15, 1976 to Elvera “Grace” and Wilton “Gator” Langley in Eagle Butte, South Dakota. She lived most of her life on the Cheyenne River reservation, however she visited her father’s side of the family in Kinder, LA from time to time. SherRon received her education in Eagle Butte from Head Start until she received her GED.
SherRon loved to be around family and friends, and she was always happy. She would often help out where needed and loved to cook for family gatherings and community functions. She was an active part of the “Old Agency Christmas Wacipi where she helped with the Veteran’s room and cooking and baking meals throughout the powwow weekend. She enjoyed and loved children. She always took good care of her own kids, and she often babysat her nieces, nephews, and grandkids. She loved to be surrounded by children, and kids loved her. SherRon became a young mother herself. Following the passing of Sheron’s own mother Grace, she was cared for by her many aunts and uncles. She spent time with all of them during her younger years.
From the time that SherRon became ill, her large and extended family members remained faithfully by her side until her passing. She had told her family she would be here for Christmas and for the Christmas powwow that she enjoyed so much, but unfortunately she did not make it. On the evening of her passing she was able to listen to a song by the Wakinyan Maza drum group which she greatly enjoyed. Her aunt noticed that the song and prayers seemed to help her in making her journey from this world. Although it is a very sad time for SharRon’s family and friends, it is also comforting to know that she is no longer in pain and she has made her journey safely and peacefully to be with loved ones.
SherRon is survived by her children: Lyndon and Cheyenne Agneaux of Birmingham, AL, Larisa Shaye Langley of Kinder, LA, Eileen and Elijah Brown Wolf of Eagle Butte, SD, and Michael Langley and Katherine Brings Plenty of Eagle Butte, SD; her grandchildren whom she greatly loved: Cheylynn and Willow Agneaux, J.J., and Anya Langley; her beloved companion: Marvin Brings Plenty of Eagle Butte; her brothers: Jerry Curley and Boyd Langley; her step-sister, Arlene Agneaux; her adopted sister, Delphine Garreau; her grandmother, Veronica (Iron Lightning) Eagle Chasing; her aunts: Linda Addison, Amelia Curley, Rose (Deon) Red Dog, Melisssa (Marcel) Jewett, Joan Curley and Judy McCarley; her adopted aunt, Michelle Benoist Moran; and her uncles: Cecil Curley, Jr., Kenneth Curley, Keith (Delores) Curley, Myron (Mary Ellen) Curley, Danny (Valerie) Curley, Irving Curley, Hilton Langley, and Jerry Langley.
She is preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Grace and Gilbert Agneaux; her father, Wilton Langley; her brothers: Grant Langley, Bronson Langley, and Terrance Maurice Curley; her uncles: Arlen Curley, Mervin “Big A” Curley, and Alvin Langley; her aunt, Flo Pitre; her maternal grandparents, Cecil Sr. and Amy (Iron Lightning) Curley; and her paternal grandparents, Elam and Sally Langley.
