Theo Bruguier

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. MST, Friday, January 30, 2009, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Eagle Butte with Mother Marion Rechtenwald, Deacon Hazel Red Bird and George Medicine Eagle officiating. Burial was at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, directed by Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte. An all night wake service began at 7:00 p.m. MST, Thursday, January 29, 2009 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Eagle Butte.
Theophile Luke Bruguier was born May 2, 1953 to Oliver and Dora (Shoots Off) Bruguier at Ash Creek, SD. He attended grade school at Red Scaffold and graduated from Cheyenne Eagle Butte High School in 1971. Theo went to work for area ranches following school. In 1982 he married Henrietta Rose Yellow Wolf and to this union six children were born. During 1982 Theo enlisted in the United States Army. He completed his Air Force Infantry Paratrooper training at Fort Jackson, GA. He was then stationed out of Ft. Hood, TX and served for five months in a Germany Re-forger exercise and training. He was honorable discharged in 1984.
Theo went on in 1986 to attended Augusta College in Sioux Falls for one year and then followed with one year at Black Hills State in Spearfish. Theo also spent time serving as a volunteer fireman.
He is survived by his five children: Mariam, Rachel, Abram, Theo Jr. and Kacie Bruguier; nine grandchildren; brother: Ivan (Adrienne) Bruguier of Ash Creek; sister: Esterlyn (George) Medicine Eagle of Rosebud; mother: Dora Bruguier of Eagle Butte and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Oliver; daughter, Desiree Lynn; brothers: Errol and Emmett; grandson, Zane and niece Delma.
Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte has been entrusted with Theo's arrangements.
