Thomas J. Misterek, 53, of Pierre and formerly of Harrold, passed away, Thursday, September 18, 2008 at his residence.

Funeral services were held at 10:30a.m., Friday, September 26, 2008 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Harrold with Rev. Brian Lemcke officiating. Burial was in Medicine Hill Cemetery, Harrold. Visitation was held from 5:00–7:30p.m., Thursday, September 25 at the Luze Funeral Home in Highmore with a 7:30p.m. prayer service.

Thomas J. Misterek was born September 16, 1955 in Pierre, SD to John H. and Leona (Miller) Misterek. He grew up in the Harrold area where he attended school, graduating in 1973. Following school Tom remained on the family ranch where he tended to his sheep and cattle. In the early 2000’s Tom moved to Pierre to be closer to healthcare due to health complications.

Tom always enjoyed when his family came to visit.

He is survived by a sister, Kathi (Dennis) Owens, Wichita, KS; three brothers, Dick (Olga), Blunt, SD, Joe, Lincoln, ND and Tim, Harrold, SD; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Chuck and John.

Luze Funeral Home of Highmore has been entrusted with Tom's arrangements.

    Sympathies to you and yours in the loss of Tom. His struggle with his health must have been hard, but what I remember of Tom, he had a sense of humor about him and endured with a smile.

  6. It’s difficult to suffer from illnesses – I believe Tom is finally at peace. I do think very fondly of the summer’s spent on the farm with Grandma, Grandpa, Uncles and Cousins.

    My sincere sympathies go out to all of you. This has been a very tough year for the Misterek family, losing two brothers and an aunt. One can only take comfort in the belief that they are in a better place and we will, one day, join them.
