Elizabeth Ann Strand was born April 13, 1923 to George and Florence (OConnor) Strand at Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Tonia was blessed to have shared in the lives of her Wyoming Family, Rhonda and Bob Boyd, along with their daughters Kendall and Kelly. The Boyds welcomed her into their family, enjoying many holidays and evenings out to dinner.
Work was a source of great pride for Tonia. For many years she was employed as Office Manager for Les Darnall at his business Wyoming Wood Stove and Decorating in Laramie, Wyoming. She loved working almost as much as she loved Les and his family. Tonia was fortunate to work until she was 87 years old. She retired in May 2010, just two weeks before moving to Miller, SD.
After arriving in Miller, Tonia moved into the Joy Apartments. She greatly enjoyed the friendships she made with the other Gals in the apartments. She was always quick with a joke or story. Tonia was known to regale her experiences and adventures of an earlier lifetime spent traveling the world.
One of her favorite pastimes was talking (and bragging) about her 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Grandma always had a big smile on her face whenever the subject of her grandkids arose. She kept close track of each of them and was never late with a birthday card.
Tonia is survived by her daughter Mary (Leo) Beranek of Miller; grandchildren: John Beranek, Tom (Robin) Beranek, Barb (Gerry) Rounds, Tim (Paula) Beranek, James Beranek, Angela (Davin) Brandt, and Joe Beranek; and great-grandchildren: Austin, Garret, Isaac and Sarah Rounds, Bernadette and Mary Alice Beranek, John, Luke and Leo Brandt, and Brooke and Karleigh Beranek.
The Beranek family is grateful for the help and care provided to Grandma by Donna Engelmann. Donnas assistance allowed Grandma to maintain her independence something extremely important to her - throughout the last year of her life.
