Troy Lafferty

Troy Lafferty, 32, of Eagle Butte, passed away, Sunday, July 29, 2012 at Brueschke Lake near Eagle Butte.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. MDT, Monday, August 6, 2012 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Eagle Butte with Mother Margaret Watson officiating. Burial followed at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cemetery, LaPlant. Wake services began at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, August 5, 2012 at the church in Eagle Butte with a procession forming at the four mile at 6:00 pm.
Troy Lafferty was born November 5, 1979 in Eagle Butte, SD to Thomas Isaac Spoonhunter and Norma Lafferty. He attended Red Cloud Indian School in Pine Ridge and was currently working on completing his G.E.D.
As a young boy Troy was a Hoop Dancer and has continued through the years to enjoy attending powwow’s with his family and friends. He also enjoyed many trips to Wyoming where he was able to go into the mountains with his brothers.
Troy has worked many jobs in both Rapid City and Eagle Butte. He was loved by his entire family and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Spoonhunter (Tashina Goodman), Alan J. (Ivy) Spoonhunter, and Julie Spoonhunter (Michael Yellowplume) all of Ethete, WY; nieces: Serene, JayLee, Senika, Alayah, AshLee, Hayden Spoonhunter and Brooklyn Yellowplume all of Ethete, WY; nephew, Tyren Ridgley of Ethete, WY; aunts and uncles: Garrett Spoonhunter and family, Ron Spoonhunter and family, Lyle Spoonhunter and family, and Dorothy Robison and family all of Bishop, CA, Alvin and Alrita Talk Different, Harvey Spoonhunter and family, Marlin Spoonhunter and family, Tillie Jenkins and family, Theton Spoonhunter and family, Terry Spoonhunter and family all of Ethete, WY.
Troy was preceded in death by his father, Thomas I. Spoonhunter; brothers: Louie Castaway and Matthew Mudlin; maternal grandparents: Henry Sr. and Florence Lafferty; paternal grandparents: Isaac and Wanda Spoonhunter; uncles: Thomas J., Vaughn, Alan R, and Wendell Spoonhunter and Aunt Susie Spoonhunter.
Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte has been entrusted with Troy’s arrangements.




I am so, so sorry for your loss. Please let me know how I can help each of you. I am familiar with the grief that you are going through. It will never go away but with time and prayer it will be easier to face each day. I love you, Norma and my nephews, Joe, Alec and Steven.
