Vance A. Tanner, 56, of Sheboygan Falls, WI and formerly of Faulkton , died at his residence on Tuesday, January 1, 2008.

Vance was born on June 17, 1951 in Faulkton, SD, the son of the late Willard F. and Doris (Perry) Tanner. He graduated from Faulkton High School in 1969 and Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD in 1973. Vance married the former Kimberly Tesinsky on December 20, 1975 in Wheaton, Illinois. He was a supply chain manager for over 30 years and most recently worked at PolyFab in Sheboygan.

Vance was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Sheboygan Falls where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed remodeling houses, doing home repairs, and fix-up. Vance will be remembered as a gifted story teller. He and his son enjoyed remote control airplanes together.

Vance is survived by his wife, Kim of Sheboygan Falls; one daughter, Schanina (Nate) Bennett of Sheboygan Falls; one son, Jeremy (Mandy) Tanner of Sheboygan; one sister, Nancy (Paul) Metzger of Montgomery, Alabama; three brothers, Terry (Mary Beth) Tanner of Greenville, SC, Willard H. (Peggy) Tanner of Conyers, GA, and Kevin (Sharon) Tanner of Faulkton, SD; and his mother-in-law, Edith Tesinsky of Scottsdale, AZ. Vance is also survived by aunts, uncles, many nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services for Vance were held at the Grace Baptist Church, 5404 County Road A, Sheboygan Falls on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 3 pm with the Rev. Larry Taylor officiating. Burial will take place at Miranda Cemetery in Faulkton, SD under the direction of Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton.

A memorial fund is being established in his name.

  1. I was saddened to read of the passing of your brother Vance. I so enjoyed seeing all of you this summer at the reuion and the cafe in Faulkton. My prayers are with all of you during this time.

  2. I went to NSC at the same time as and was a friend of Vance. I saw his obituary in the Aberdeen newspaper and it brought back a flood of memories of college, including playing cards in the “Wolves’ Den” and listening to Vance tell stories and jokes. He truly was a character and will be missed.

    Our family is so sad to hear this tragic news. David and I spent summers in Orient and we had such a good time with both Vance and Nancy…so many happy memories.
