Vera Marie Light was born on February 24, 1927 in Aberdeen, SD to Carl and Anna Light. Vera grew up in Aberdeen and after finishing her education worked as a legal secretary in Aberdeen.
On June 11, 1949 she married Glenn Walberg at the First Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen. To this union two children were born, Glenn Jr. and Shirley. The early years of their marriage were spent on the Walberg farm near Mina Lake in Edmonds County. In 1954 Glenn and Vera moved to Aberdeen and started Walberg Construction. Vera did the bookkeeping and cared for the family while Glenn built many new homes in the Aberdeen area.
Glen and Vera retired in 1973 and moved to the family cabin on the shores of Lake Pickeral. They spent the summers at the lake and the winters in Florida, Texas and Arizona. They finally decided to live in Yuma, Arizona year around as moving back and forth between Arizona and South Dakota became too much work.
In May 2003 Vera and Glenn decided to move to Miller to be closer to family. They lived in the Miller Manor. Glenn passed away on January 14, 2008 while Vera continued to live at the Manor. In April of 2012 Vera unfortunately fell and broke her neck. This fall resulted in her moving into the Good Samaritan Care Center in Miller. Vera enjoyed joking and teasing with the staff and was very appreciative of their loving support.
Vera passed away quickly on June 4 leaving behind her son Glenn and wife Sue of Devils Lake, ND; daughter Shirley and husband Ernie Stirling of Miller; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and two sisters.
All that knew Vera will miss her trademark wit and humor, which she used to bring a smile to those that she met.

Rest in peace Vera. I shall always remember the fun and good times we had at the bowling alley and our visits at Pickerel. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
Have fond memories of bowling at the same time she did. Great lady—great bowler.
Glenn and Shirley: I am very sorry to hear of Aunt Vera’s passing. I enjoyed visiting her and Glenn up at Pickeral Lake in the summer. She had a wonderful sense of humor and made the best sloppy Joes in the world. My she rest in peace. Mark White
To the Family and Friends of Vera Walberg,
Having been in your situation before, I wanted to express how deeply sorry I am for your loss. More importantly though, I wanted to share with you that death isn?t the end thanks to the resurrection promise made by our Heavenly Creator in Scriptures like (Isaiah 25: 8), (John 5: 28), (1 Corinthians 15:26), (Revelation 21:3 and 4), which can comfort you in this difficult time. Yes without the resurrection promise, there would be no hope of ever seeing our dead loved ones again because they would remain ?.Conscious of nothing at all . . .? as described in Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10. However, mercifully, by means of the resurrection promise, Jehovah God has opened up the priceless opportunity for untold multitudes of people who have died to come back from the dead and hopefully enjoy eternal life on an earthly paradise in the near future. This means that you can have the heartwarming hope that someday, in God?s upcoming new world, you can be reunited with your loved ones who have fallen asleep in death when they are brought back to life..(Mark 5:35, 41, 42); (Acts 9:36-41). Although this may be hard to believe, it?s not mere dream. The resurrection is a guaranteed promise made by Jehovah God, who according to Hebrews 6 verse 18 cannot lie. Furthermore, by resurrecting His son Jesus, God has given us sound reason to trust in Him and His promises. If you wish to learn what God requires of those He?ll allow to live forever in the company of their resurrected loved ones in perfect conditions right here when this planet is transformed into a paradise, please contact the local congregation of Jehovah?s Witnesses for a FREE Bible study, which can be conducted at your convenience.
May you be comforted by the cited Scriptures, which give us hope for a wonderful future in God’s upcoming new and righteous world!(Matthew 19: 28-30)
