Verneal Melbourn, 95, of Highmore, died Sunday, September 9, 2007 at the Highmore Healthcare Center.

Funeral services were held at 10:30a.m., Saturday, September 15, 2007 at the United Methodist Church, Highmore with Pastor Jenene Earl officiating. Burial was in the Highmore Cemetery, directed by Luze Funeral Home, Highmore. Visitation was 4:00-6:00p.m., Friday, September 14 at the Luze Funeral Home in Highmore.

Verneal Ann McClure was born September 18, 1911 to Albert and Fanny (Jergens) McClure. She graduated from Highmore High School with the class of 1930. On December 29, 1936 she married Fred Burton Melbourn and to this union, twin girls were born.

Verneal and Fred wintered in Palm Springs and took trips to Europe, Hawaii, and Africa. They continued to live in Highmore until their passing.

Her memory will be cherished by her daughters: Joan Miller of Grandview, Missouri and Jean Bailey of Palm Springs, CA; sister, Mildred Gebbie of Salinas, CA; grandson, Rick Miller of Raymore, Missouri; and two great-grandchildren: Cody and Rikki Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on April 25, 1994; her brothers: Melvin, Lloyd, and Kenneth, and one sister, Florence Schiltz.
