Veronica Vetter

Veronica Vetter, 88, of Gettysburg, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at the Avera Oahe Haven in Gettysburg.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 8, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gettysburg with Fr. Jerry Kopel presiding. Burial followed in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Gettysburg. Visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 7, 2014 with a 7:00 p.m. wake service at the church.
Veronica Frost was born November 25, 1925 in Bowdle, SD to Nickolas and Catherine (Wirtz) Frost. She was raised in the Bowdle area and then moved with her family to Hoven where she attended and graduated from Hoven High School.
On February 28, 1946 Veronica was united in marriage to Phillip E. Vetter. Throughout the years Veronica worked at the Gambles Store, Jones Drug, the Sunset Café, Bohnenkamp Ace Hardware, managed the Montgomery Ward Store for seven years and ran the Hut.
Phillip passed away in 1984. Veronica helped run the trucking business for some time and then bought the liquor store in April of 1987, which she ran until her retirement in 1991
Veronica was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Altar Society, and the VFW Auxiliary. Her spare time was spent bowling, playing bingo and baseball, fishing, sewing and making quilts. Many of which were donated to veteran’s.
Her life will be cherished by her children: Roger (Ginny) Vetter of Selby, David E. (Karen) Vetter of Gillette, WY and Alan (Angelene) Vetter of Gettysburg; grandchildren: Jason Vetter (Jen Cornett), Josh (Ashley) Vetter, Chris (Denise) Vetter, Mike (Doreen) Vetter, Lori Vetter, Dawn Vetter, Jessica (Travis) Kreger, Toni Vetter, and Kurt (Michelle) Storkson; 18 great grandchildren; one brother, Norbert Frost of Oregon; and one sister-in-law, Theresa Frost of Gettysburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters: Anna Marie Herman, Marie Wirtz, Angeline Stubenrauch, and Loretta Mangrich; brothers: Joseph, Herbert, Robert, Wilfred, and LeRoy; one infant sibling; and a daughter-in-law, Sandy Vetter.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Veronica’s arrangements.




Dave, Roger, Alan and families sorry for the loss of your mom she was asexual lady. Thoughts and prayers are with you.
I have so many great memories of Aunt Veronica from when we were kids. Donna, Allen and I went to visit her in June when we were home for our family reunion and she was just wonderful. She was a special woman. God bless her and her family.
