Wallace Dick, 60, of Houston, Texas, died Wednesday, July 23 at Houston from complications following surgery. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 28 at Rembold Funeral Home in St. Lawrence. Visitation will be at the funeral home two hours prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at the Wessington Cemetery in Wessington.

Wally was born February 25, 1954, to Albert & Erma (Jenkins) Dick at Miller, SD. He attended grades K-2 at country school, Miller and then moved with his parents to Pierre, where he attended grades 3-12; graduating from Riggs High School in 1972.

On the morning of May 15, 1993, Wally graduated from Black Hills State University. That evening in Rapid City, SD he married Rhonda Ferguson of Tulsa, OK. To this union a daughter, Angela Lorraine, was born. The family made their home in Tulsa, OK from 1993 until July, 2005, when Rhonda's job took them to Houston, TX.

Throughout Wally's working career he was employed by the State of Oklahoma, State of South Dakota-Pierre, Brooks Fiber-Tulsa, OK, and his latest employer, Fluor Corporation, where he was a Senior Designer/Draftsman for telephony/security systems.

Wally's hobbies included music, woodworking and car restoration. His most recent project was a 1978 El Camino.

Wally is survived by his wife of 21 years, Rhonda; daughter Angela of Houston; brother Gene (Linda) Dick of Oklahoma City, OK; sister Dianne (Ken) Wedge of Wessington, SD; Father and mother-in-law Clayton and Lorraine Ferguson of Rapid City, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Wally was preceded in death by his mother and father, brother and sister-in-law Herbert and Barbara Dick, sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Wesley Anderson, nephew Randy Anderson and nephew Timmy Wedge.

  1. I am very sorry to hear of your lose. I was to your two wedding. Wally helped me and my dad in the weld shop during college. We had some good times. Sorry that we didn’t keep in touch. Sorry cant make it to funeral Tim Crandall

  12. I’ve been so saddened by the passing of Wally. I knew him when I lived in Antlers. He was fun to be around and such a kind person. My family and he attended the same church. I was so glad when we could talk on facebook. Wally will surely be missed. I’ve been praying for the family and will continue to do so. God bless you.

  16. I am grateful my former classmate from Pierre and Spearfish found happiness and joy in the course of life. He shared a great smile and laugh, and enriched the lives of those who experienced his love of life.

  17. I was so very sadden to her that we had lost Wally. I have had the pleasure of knowing him for the years he worked at Fluor. He was such a joy, always smiling with a smile that would brighten anyone’s day.

He was friendly, happy, and a friend to all he met. Wally will be missed on FaceBook but never forgotten. The funeral was beautiful and very touching with the music and prayers. Three of the Riggs High School classmates of 72 where there to give condolances and celerbrate his life.

  20. So sorry I just found out today Tues 29th. I didnt even get a chance to ask Wally how the brats were. I love old cars and didnt know he restored them. I had a 55-56-57 chevys lost them in a fire. Now have a 89 firebird restored. Thanks to facebook we met up again. I am totally shocked very very sorry. I found out from Don Wallace. I have lost a son and both parents email me anytime you should have all my info.Thinking of all of you.

  23. Wally was my friend since high school. He hid his first motorcycle in my garage until he could convince his mom it was a good idea! Wally was a thoughtful, cheerful, upbeat guy then….and always. Through the years his ?Wally-ness? never changed. Even if we hadn?t been in contact for years, when we did talk, we could always pick up the thread as if no time had passed. It?s hard to say goodbye….RIP my old friend.
